DSC_0081Vers-Pont-du-Gard is located just west of Avignon.  Depending who you talk with, Vers is both in Provence and not in Provence.  I go with the in Provence crowd.  Vers is a small village about .4km from the Pont du Gard.  The above picture is of the Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aquaduct.  The tourists go to the Pont to see the roman aquaduct, the locals go there to swim in the Rhone river.  You can pay 18 Euro’s for a day pass, or 23 Euro’s for a yearly pass.  If you go more than once, get the yearly pass.  You can also hike in from the north side.  Vers is a real French town with virtually zero tourists.  Only the Tabac owner speaks some English.
