Welcome to The Provencal Voice

Wecome to the Provençal Voice.  This site is pictorial review of Provence France, and other areas in France.  It also contains travel related information not found on other sites.  It is mainly a picture site, but also contains some useful information to travellers and English speaking residents.  I hope that my site will inspire you to visit France, especially Southern France.

I have visited many parts of France from Colmar, next to Germany to Colloire near the Spanish border.  Even been to Andorra, but not much to report there.  I have travelled to several countries, but France is the best.  The majority of French citizens never travel outside of the country.  The reason?  There is so much to see and do within the country, that there is no need to travel outside.

Users are welcome to use the pictures for private use only.  Most, if not all of the pictures will have links to full size images.  Where is Provence?  It streches from west at Uzes, south down to the Camargue at Saintes Maries de La Mer, then east to Menton and north to the Gorge du Verdon.

The above picture is a lavender field just below La Coste, a hilltop village in the Luberon .  The Luberon is the center of Provence, and is the best of France.  La Coste is about 35 minutes East of Avignon.

Provence would not be Provence without the Cigales.  They are very loud in Spring (Printemps), and in Summer (Ete).  Here is a link to hear them in action.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T3cKXhTB1U

The map below is the general area called Provence.  It is somewhat interactive.
